Course Descriptions and Learning Objectives

 1. Diversity and Inclusion 

  • Learning Objectives – The objective of this lesson is to outline and identify assumptions about intercultural encounters and the importance of diversity and the benefits of inclusion at all levels. It will outline unconscious biases that may exist and how culture impacts our perceptions, beliefs, behaviors, and responses. 
  • Learning Outcomes – At the conclusion of this course, learners will be able to execute the skills associated with bridging communication differences, applying cross-cultural communication, self-awareness of cultural bias. Further, learners will be able to recognize and respond effectively and appropriately to diversity and inclusion dynamics and how to be an inclusive leader 

2. Embracing Differences 

  • Learning Objectives – The objective of this lesson is to introduce the learners to the more advanced concepts of how culture impacts our leadership and how those differences and experiences from diverse backgrounds can make for a robust and effective team. This lesson will also help learners reflect upon and better understand how perspectives are shaped and the importance of valuing different viewpoints. 
  • Learning Outcomes – At the conclusion of this course, learners will be able to execute the skills associated with understanding varying perspectives for effective communication and project management. 

3. Cultural Collaboration 

  • Learning Objectives – The objective of this course is to introduce the learners to the wide range of applications and benefits of cultural collaboration. This course focuses on the importance of having a community of knowledge and the importance of having inside and outsider perspectives for effective messaging, project completion and goal setting. 
  • Learning Outcomes – At the conclusion of this course, all learners will be able to effectively apply basic cultural collaboration skills that lead to effective team building and idea generation. Additionally, learners will be able to identify and execute proper leadership strategies that embraces partnerships and synchronous thought.

4. Building Meaningful Relationships 

  • Learning Objectives – The objective of this course is to introduce the learners to art of developing strong working interactions. With a focus on emotional intelligence, the learner will discover more about how to build trust, develop a positive attitude, manage boundaries, avoid gossip, actively listen, and more. 
  • Learning Outcomes – At the conclusion of this course, all learners will be able to effectively identify how to cultivate workplace relationships through open communication, mindfulness, and respect. 

5. Cultural Empathy and Sensitivity 

  • Learning Objectives – The objective of this course is to effectively introduce definition and concepts of cultural empathy and sensitivity and understand the unique differences between empathy and sympathy. Learners will gain an understanding of how cultural empathy makes for smoother and more pleasant interactions and working relationships. Learners will also be exposed to factors that contribute to cultural differences such as socio-economic status, culture, gender, race, etc. 
  • Learning Outcomes – At the conclusion of this course, all learners will be able to effectively understand the difference between empathy and sympathy. An outcome of this lesson is to be able to identify signs of cultural generalizations and have learners overcome basic stereotypes and superiority complexes and how to best establish a rapport with colleagues and stakeholders. 

6. Transparency in Words and Actions 

  • Learning Objectives – The objective of this lesson is to introduce the learners to the fundamental responsibility for words and actions, not only for individuals, but also the responsibility for creating positive environments that cultivate affirmative words and actions for those on your team. 
  • Learning Outcomes – At the conclusion of this course, learners will be able to execute the skills associated with building credibility through follow-through and commitment, active listening, and utilizing words for not only communication, but as a tool for creating positive actions and outcomes.

7. Race vs. Ethnicity 

  • Learning Objectives – The objective of this course is to introduce learners to the fundamental differences between the terms that are often used interchangeably in the workplace and why these differences matter when dealing with people of different backgrounds. 
  • Learning Outcomes – At the conclusion of this course, learners will be able to effectively differentiate between issues of race and those of ethnicity; while increasing their levels of sensitivity and awareness in diverse work settings. 

8. Building Trust 

  • Learning Objectives – The objective of this course is to reinforce the principles that lead to constructive and productive work settings; free from barriers that prevent groups from authentic collaboration. Focusing on the principles of building consistency, self-awareness, transparency, and authenticity in communication. 
  • Learning Outcomes – At the culmination of this course, learners will be able to execute the steps associated with building and earning trust with the members of their respective teams; and trust in the systems, practices and protocols created by their leadership. 

9. Overcoming Adversity 

  • Learning Objectives – The objective of this course is to present learners with additional methods and processes to effectively handle the common challenges in the workplace; including the stress of meeting deadlines, changes in leadership, mission or focus and much more. 
  • Learning Outcomes – At the conclusion of this course, learners will be able to effectively confront and overcome a variety of workplace challenges; including those associated with differences of perspective. 

10. Productive Listening 

  • Learning Objective – The objective of this lesson is to introduce learners to the principles and practices associated with active and productive listening, for the purpose of building more efficient and effective working relationships. 
  • Learning Outcomes – At the culmination of this course, learners will be able to go beyond surface level conversations with their co-workers and delve into the meaningful, professional discussions that arise when one listens with the goal of gaining a better understanding of the persons engaging in conversation.

11. Open Mindedness 

  • Learning Objectives – The objectives of this course is to introduce learners to the empowerment and productivity that arises when they fully embrace team members of all backgrounds. The goal is for them to recognize that open mindedness begins with an appreciation of the individuals and the experiences that have molded their ideologies. 
  • Learning Outcomes – At the conclusion of this course, learners will be able to welcome ideas, input and constructive feedback from all team members; without clouding judgements based on biases related to race, gender, ethnicity and other non-work related prejudices. 

12. Considerate Communications 

  • Learning Objectives – The objectives of this course is to present learners with methods that aid in fostering healthy workplace interactions; which makes for more productive and pleasant work environments, founded on the principles of respect and empathy. 
  • Learning Outcomes – At the conclusion of this course learners will be able to communicate with team members by displaying active listening, considerate responses and other critical essential skills; which will enable them to operate compassionately in a variety of workplace settings.
